Preparation for the Sacraments

Confirmation – Confirmation Sessions will be cancelled on Monday, January 26, and Monday, February 2, due to school exams and Coal Bowl. However, the Parent Meeting scheduled for Monday, January 26, at 7 PM at the Pastoral Centre will take place. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated in our parish on Thursday,April 16, 2015.

First Eucharist -- Children in Grades 2 & up are presently preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist by attending Children’s Liturgy of the Word on Saturdays at 4 PM mass or Sundays at 11 AM mass – and – Breaking Open the Word on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM at the Pastoral Centre (5310 Union Hwy.). Any parent who has a child registered for First Eucharist, but was unable to attend the Parent Meeting held on January 15, is asked to pick up the First Eucharist packet at the Pastoral Centre (5310 Union Hwy) 9:30 AM-12 Noon and 1:30-4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. First Eucharist will take place on April 11 & 12, 2015. Please check your bulletin for dates and times of all meetings. If you wish to register your child for First Eucharist, you may pick up a registration form at the back of the Church, at the Pastoral Centre, or the parish website (www.parishofsaintleonard.com). The forms can then be passed in to the Pastoral Centre. Pastoral Centre hours are Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM – 12 Noon and 1:30-4:00 PM.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

At our 4 PM Saturday and 11 AM Sunday liturgies, children are invited to take part in the Children’s Liturgy of the Word. This provides children with the opportunity to hear the readings of the day from the Children’s Lectionary and to discuss these readings with catechists. We encourage all parents/caregivers of children ages 4 to 12 years to bring them to the 4 PM Saturday or 11 AM Sunday liturgy and give them the opportunity to know and understand God’s Word. Children under the age of four must be accompanied by an adult.

Breaking Open the Word

Breaking Open the Word will be cancelled this week for March Break, but will resume on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at 6:30 PM at the Pastoral Centre (Union Highway).

Grades 6, 7 & 8

Faith Formation Sessions for Youth in Grades 6-8 will be cancelled this week for March Break, but will resume on Thursday, March 23, from 7-8 PM downstairs at the Pastoral Centre, 5310 Union Highway.

-- The regular session for Confirmation Candidates will be cancelled this week for March Break, but will resume on Monday, March 20, 2017, at 7:30 PM at the Pastoral Centre.

-- Parents / Guardians of Candidates are asked to attend a meeting on the last Monday of each month – next on March 27 -- at 7:00 PM at the Pastoral Centre (5310 Union Highway).

First Eucharist

-- Bread Making Workshops are taking place on March 10 & 11. At that time, parents were asked to indicate the date and time they would like their child to receive First Eucharist (Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 4:00 PM or Sunday, April 23, 2017, at 11:00 AM). If your child did not attend, please phone the Pastoral Centre (902-862-2255) with this information. Please note: Parents of First Eucharist Candidates who were unable to attend the Learning Centres and the Bread Making Workshops will be notified of the alternate dates set for these activities.
